You’re a WordPress developer and want to build awesome apps, but you heard from another developer or from your boss that you should be using Scalable Development tools, Dependency Management, Modularization, Continuous Integration, Deployment, Migration & Provisioning Scripts. You’re also a perfectionist and need a clean code base, minimal configuration and a DRY framework. If you’re like me, you’re going to get lost researching the best web app development tools out there, and spend more time setting up the project then coding the app.

I’ll show how I integrate some of the most popular and useful development tools with WordPress, keeping our app clean and scalable. At the end of this intensive tutorial, you’ll have a working template to use for future projects.

Particular focus is given to modularization, DRY project configuration, testing, automation and performance. I will also share some techniques to package and distribute your app as a theme or as a plugin.

The tools presented include:

• Composer

• Bower

• Gulp

• PHPunit

• Qunit

• Vagrant

• Puppet

• Capistrano
