Social media is here to stay, and both personal bloggers and businesses can make use of the multiple social outlets available to promote content and to engage readers or customers. Many of these tasks can be simplified by using tools and plugins already available on the WordPress platform.
In this session Duane will discuss various options and third-party plugins that can be used to integrate WordPress with various social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook and various sharing websites.

Best practices for protecting your content while promoting sharing and interaction Tools for promoting the sharing of WordPress content on sites such as Digg, Tumblr, etc. Various methods and plugins for Flickr integration Options for sharing your content on Facebook Benefits of other commenting options such as Disqus Tweeting from WordPress to Twitter, various free and commercial options: includes discussion of options for single author and multi-author websites Differences between various URL shorteners, and benefits of custom, self-hosted ones Prerequisites:
Members should have knowledge of adding and configuring WordPress plugins. Basic PHP and experience editing theme templates would be beneficial, but not required.
